Why pets do better at home

The familiar bed beats the boarding kennel

Cats, senior pets and small animals are the ones most rattled by a change of scenery. Drop-in visits keep their scent, their hiding spots and their schedule exactly where they left them.

Familiar environment

Pets stay surrounded by their own smells, routines and safe hiding places instead of a room full of strangers.

Consistent routine

Feeding, walks, litter care, medication and daily habits stay as close to normal as possible.

Lower stress

No carrier, no car ride, no unfamiliar sounds β€” a real difference for shy and anxious animals.

Less illness exposure

Staying home avoids shared boarding spaces, which matters most for senior and sensitive pets.

Medication handled

Pills, liquids, insulin injections, inhalers and topicals β€” administered calmly, on schedule.

Personalized attention

Visits are tailored to your pet's personality and comfort level, whether they're social or slow to warm up.

Clear communication

You'll know how they're doing before you think to ask

Leaving pets behind is the stressful part. After every visit you get a note and photos β€” so the question "I wonder if she's eaten" never gets a chance to form.

  • Photos from the visit
  • Feeding and medication notes
  • Behavior, appetite and comfort observations
  • Walk, litter box or habitat updates
  • Honest communication about anything unusual

What Virginia pet owners actually say

Every review below is a real client, in their own words β€” including a veterinarian who is, by her own admission, particular about who touches her cats.

β€œMegan is the best. I am a veterinarian and particular about how my kiddos are treated, and I have total confidence in her care. She's responsible, sends great photo updates, and my cats adore her. Zero worries when she's on duty!”

β€œWhen our kitty Pasha got a new scary epilepsy diagnosis we were afraid to leave him for any length of time. Megan took fantastic care of Pasha during our vacation! She made sure he took his twice daily medication, and her updates allowed us to have fun and know he was in the best of hands. She was also flexible when our flight got delayed.”

β€œWhen your dogs greet your pet sitter like she is their favorite person after not having seen her for almost a year, you know she left an indelible impression on them! Megan is a gem and always goes above and beyond. She cares for all of the living creatures at our home, both domestic and wild! If there was a way to give her 10 stars we would!”

β€œMegan watched our 13-year-old cat, Kitteran, this past week and we couldn't be happier! Kitty needs an inhaler twice a day for his asthma, so it's really important that he vibes with his sitter. He took to Megan right away! She sent tons of photos and videos during her visits β€” it was so great to see him happy and playing.”

β€œI have a senior golden, Ariel. Megan is so good with her. She sits with her, takes her for walks and when the redhead is being stubborn, even reads to her. Ariel loves Megan and I wouldn't use anyone else for Ariel or any future senior pups.”

β€œMegan took wonderful care of our special needs dog. We were concerned about leaving him with a sitter, but Megan spent time with us to review his care schedule ahead of time, then sent regular updates and great pictures, all of which set us at ease. She even did extra visits to make sure he was ok. And she saved a turtle crossing the road while out walking with our dog β€” she really loves animals!”

β€œI have a very old female cat that needs medicine twice a day. Megan put her on her schedule two times a day and sent me a note each time, and photos, telling me how they had passed the time, how the cat was eating, and how they had related to each other. I felt she was in good hands. I highly recommend this lovely cat person.”

β€œMegan recently took care of my senior cat for multiple days, and she did a fantastic job. She was very thorough in getting background information about him beforehand so she could make sure he was happy and comfortable while we were away. Reliable, professional and very caring β€” I would highly recommend Megan.”
